I felt like the boys were uncomfortable - not critical so much as just utterly lost, because no one ever HAD this particular talk with THEM. And Dean's comments to Jody in the kitchen - "nice ambush" - seem to back that up. She wanted their support, but they were utterly clueless. They'd never been on either side of that type of conversation in their lives and were just totally uncomfortable with it.
I didn't feel like they were presented as being "in the right" AT ALL in that scene, I thought it was TOTALLY trying to say that Jody was being responsible and doing the right thing and due to their upbringing, they had no clue how to be a part of that. :/
