Gonna need to give that dude's show another try. I want us to be friends.


“I like the slash, and I think I like it because I feel there are so many people who are under-represented—or not represented at all—in mainstream Hollywood entertainment. I really enjoy the fan fiction that embraces character and themes that showcase those people—their love, their desires, their passions.

“I think that’s really cool—and I hope the show as it continues embraces that more, because that’s an opportunity to tell stories that other people might not be familiar with. I mean, there’s slash of me and Ichabod… that’s like, ‘What?!’ and then I read it and it was really well-written.

“I get it—it’s another way to go but it’s no less valid than what we’re doing and it’s certainly interesting, so I really get a kick out of that. To read fan fiction and to see fan art and to watch other people’s artistry paint different colors on top of what we’re doing… how can you be mad at that? That’s just completely awesome!”

I haven't read it, but I quite agree from browsing - it's not for him, and I don't really care that he doesn't like it, beyond being disappointed in him. Those I am always worried about the subtleties of the power balance between fans and creators and gay culture etc. - I'm more comfortable when the guy making faces at us is *that* privileged, and, as he points out time and again, straight. So good for him, and - I don't very much care. I'm disappointed that he would be this ignorant and bigoted (and outspoken about it without learning the topic) and against people of disempowered groups, who are generally devalued, and who are lso his fans. Just - no. Many levels of no. He lost a lot of respect that I did have for him. But I don't really care.

Of course, had this been my fandom, one of my boys, I would have been *devastated*, and it probably would have ruined a piece of fandom for me - the way Jensen' remarks last year have. So I totally get people who are deeply hurt by this, this really sucks .

Aww yeah, Orlando is awesome. Breaking the fourth wall done right. And I really enjoy Sleepy Hollow although it's one of those shows I have no urge to read fic for actually.

I watched the first 1-2 eps and didn't enjoy them - I don't like scary things! - but I don't like a lot of shows, the first time around - this is a good enough reason to try it again!
