Uh, GISHWHES has been going on since 2011...definitely not a new thing. And it's just Misha - I don't believe any of the other SPN people participate.

A number of the cast members--like Osric Chau and Ruth Connell--have participated as scavenger hunters for the event, actually! But you're right, re: Random Acts itself, I don't believe anyone besides Misha is involved in any admin stuff. (Though both Gen and Danneel have been asked to write scavenger hunt items.)

Every time I look at it, they've just finished an item! LOL I have such bad timing.
Edit: Just to say this isn't GISHWHES itself, it's like a really quick GISHWHES special event with lots of SPN prizes and it's only going on on Tumblr.
