There are all sorts of fics I like. I appreciate a new take on a well explored theme, interesting, intricate explorations of characters, and perhaps even more, of relationships, and if possible, of the world, though that is something I am less hungry for. And I adore recovery stories, stories about beng fucked up etc - when they are - truthful, gentle, respectful....?

But if I had to choose just one sort of fic to have more more more of - it would almost for sure be the classic Wincest (or gen! But if I am choosing one, then Wincest) sort: epic love, the other person is more important that literally everything else, the world is large, unknown, scary and interesting, the road trip vibe, music, banter, all the interesting things they encounter, pining, incest drama, all their isolation and ISSUES, so many lovely issues, and they ways they play of each other.... they actually finding something good in each other, worth the, well, hell they go through.
I want more Coast on Through, Oh, it is Love, The One You'll Know By, and of course, my love, And I have Asked to Be Where No Storms Come

I would pay for well written present day Wincest with freaking out over incest. Yes, they went through hell, but they are still people and still influenced by this world....

Also, I so so so so want more RPF that is about characters and relationships, that is about characterization and that is thought through - preferably non-au

Is RPF not usually about characters and relationships? (Honest question--I've not read very much of it at all, and now I'm curious. Because if it isn't, what is it about instead? Is it heavily based on world-buiding [like with the more extreme AUs], or?)

I'm gonna generalize and so forth a bit unfairl, and say that it more often is more about plot, tropes, genre. It's about retelling classic stories or movies (it's sort of plot-napping for them as the original text, maybe) or playing with genre (fairy tales, spy novels etc), or favorite tropes or kinks.... When the characterizations do get attention, they are often not realistic (which is definitely a literary choice, I like it less, but it's not any less of a good choice), centered around one or a few characterizations, nd often not particularly connected with "canon"

I crave character studies, relationship based fic, yk....

Ohhh I see; yeah, I wouldn't...really be into the plot-napping, really, unless they were maybe doing something actually interesting with it. And now that you mention it, re: those kinds of genre--the dragon AUs, or the spies AUs, etc., I DO see those a lot. But since I'm not interested in those genres in fiction generally writ, I'm not really into them in fic, either. Because I too am very character-centered, and character-interested.
